Engineer, OK. But why like this?
We, engineers on site. Engineers on their feet. Engineers on the move.Engineers just passing by.
But WHY?
This is a question bound to be asked every time when met with one of us and got to learn a little bit about our type of life. Do not get me wrong we don't actually have a "life" of our own, mostly.
I am not gonna bore you guys with all the details about how we work and all because since you are here, and I only hope you will stick around and get to know more. The basics are these:
We work, wherever the job takes us. Might be in the dessert one year, or in the north freaking pole the next one.
Due to the deadline-based projects, we always work inhumane hours, like 8 am to 7 pm every day, including all Saturdays and 2 Sundays in a month (not kidding you guys, this was my last rotation before i was transferred to central office).
We usually have to live in a very tiny corner of a city; if we're lucky because this could easily be a village or nothing at all, without basic tools in reach, like let’s say hairdressers. (Then you will learn how to cut your own hair which will definitely end up being a total failure).
We do not usually have a concept for luxury, or by any means of comfort within our routine. But usually when we go on trips, oh boy do we exaggerate!
Thus, all who just find out that our sector exists and we work like this , the question is inevitable: "WHY? NEDEN? ПОЧЕМУ?"
Well because %70 WE LOVE IT.
There are those who do it for the money and they work a couple of years and then change their sector. But for the ones who actually build their career in this sector; It is not the money; it is not the joy of moving around. I am telling you do not believe anyone telling you otherwise. It is mostly because we love it.
We love to be on our toes, we love to travel and we love to be local, we love to push our boundaries, we love to challenge ourselves but most importantly we love our area of expertise and the job we do.
Starting from here, this very first blog post, you will get to know us more if you decide to hang around.
And if you're a fellow industrial zone colleague, you will get to see someone else going through the exact same stuff with you and that where ever you are in the world, you are definitely not alone.
I am the engineerintown, and I welcome you to my journey and my corner to share.
Please stick around. And ENJOY!
